Finished packages are separated from the moulded strip or matrix by saw or punch, the last mechanical operation before the part is tested.
Punch tooling is within Indian reach through an OEM partnership; the saw platforms are not contestable.

What Breaks, and Who Could Fix It
Matrix packages such as QFN and BGA must be sawn, which means blade consumption, cutting water and a wet-then-dry handling sequence at the end of the line.
Tooling wear is continuous and replacement is routine, which makes this a recurring-revenue position rather than a one-time sale.
Best and worst case
Punch singulation on leadframe packages is fast, cheap and requires only tooling maintenance.
A defect introduced here has consumed the full cost of every prior operation. Scrap at singulation is the most expensive scrap in the plant.
Punch tooling and dies are direct precision tool-room work, comparable in difficulty to mould tools but cheaper to enter.
Tolerances are tight enough that a general engineering shop cannot walk in. Metrology investment comes first.

The three tiers
- Tier A: Buildable Now
- Under roughly Rs 5 crore of entry capital and 12 to 24 months to a qualified first shipment. A founder can start here.
- Tier B: Partnership or Distribution
- There is real money here, but not in manufacturing the thing. The opening is in stocking, distribution, purity uplift or a licensed partnership.
