What Breaks, and Who Could Fix It

What breaks

The burn-in board is the real content, a high-temperature PCB carrying hundreds of sockets, redesigned for every package. It is consumed, not permanent.

Who could fix it

Requires polyimide or high-Tg laminate sourcing and thermal-cycling validation, but the manufacturing itself is a known quantity for a good Indian PCB house.

Burn-in ovens and chambers are among the least sophisticated capital in a semiconductor plant, and Indian environmental-chamber makers already build adjacent equipment.

Worst case if this breaks

Automotive-grade burn-in occupies floor space and calendar time in enormous quantity. Undersizing it caps how much automotive work a plant can accept, permanently.

Best case to fix it

Burn-in boards are a strong Tier A opportunity: high-temperature laminate PCB plus socket assembly, both within Indian capability.

Worst case to fix it

Board design is customer-specific and the volumes per design are small. It is an engineering-led business, not a catalogue one.
